Mathematics and Biosciences
Joachim Hermisson was jointly appointed by MFPL, the University of Vienna and the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna to reinforce the link between mathematics and biosciences. He carries out his research work into mathematical population genetics at the University of Vienna and the Max F. Perutz Laboratories in near proximity to Arndt von Haeseler who was appointed to a WWTF Science Chair in 2005. Before coming to Vienna he was a group leader at the Department for Biology of LMU Munich.
In 2010 Joachim Hermisson founded the communication platform evolVienna connecting more than 50 research groups dealing with evolutionary research in and around Vienna.
