The special call "Digital Humanism 2020" within the thematic programme Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is open!

  • The submission deadline for short proposals is 2pm on the 22nd of September 2020. This is a two-stage call (for the timeline, see below).
  • WWTF wants to position Vienna as an internationally strong location for developing Digital Humanism as a movement and paradigm.
  • The proposed project should improve the understanding of current fundamental questions in digitalisation in its social and human dimensions and thereby aim at re-conceptualizing the development of digital technologies.
  • Researchers from both Social Sciences & Humanities (SSH, including art-based research) and ICT (Computer Sciences and related fields) and related fields should collaborate across disciplines.
  • Project duration is 2-4 years. In total, at least € 2.0 million are dedicated to this call. The funding range per project is € 200,000 to 400,000.

  2. Matchmaking Event: June 19, 2020 (see below for registration
  3. Deadline for submission of short proposals (online): September 22, 2020, 2 pm.
  4. Communication about the invitation to submit a full proposal: Early November 2020
  5. Deadline for submission of full proposals: January 28, 2021, 2 pm.
  6. Communication of the funding decision: End of May 2021

The eleventh “Vienna Research Groups for Young Investigators" call 2020 as part of the WWTF's Life Sciences programme is issued for two group leader positions and is now open. This group must address substantial state-of-the-art scientific research questions in the area of computational methods in the life sciences.

It addresses Vienna-based universities and research institutions that intend to hire an excellent young researcher from abroad for setting-up and managing an independent research group. Active recruitment procedures are mandatory.

WWTF grants up to two positions with up to € 1.6 million per research group for six to eight years years of funding.

!!! Please submit proposals online by 2 pm, July 14, 2020. Please be aware that due to the corona pandemic, the deadline was extended for one month (the previous deadline was June 16, 2020). !!!!

Decisions are planned for December 2020. Hearings of selected candidates will take place in Vienna 3rd-4th December 2020.

Die Einreichfrist für Kurzanträge im zweiten Call im Schwerpunkt Umweltsystemforschung endete am Donnerstag, 23. Januar 2020. Es wurden 61 Vollanträge eingereicht. Die eingereichten Anträge werden nun von einer internationalen Jury evaluiert. Die Entscheidung über die Einladung zur Vollantragsphase fällt im März 2020.

Der Call richtet sich an Forscher*innen, die ein innovatives, mehrjähriges Projekt (2-4 Jahre) im Bereich der Umweltsystemwissenschaften mit einem Fokus auf urbane Regionen planen. Die Anträge sollen gesellschaftlich hochrelevante Fragestellungen bearbeiten und interdisziplinär ausgerichtet sein. Die Kombination von Forscher*innen aus unterschiedlichen wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen um interaktive Partnerschaften zu fördern ist ein weiteres Kernkriterium dieser Ausschreibung. Gesamt sind 4,5 Mio. € für diesen Call gewidmet.
