Creative Industries in Vienna: Development, Dynamics and Potentials

Vienna was a centre of cultural industries of world wide reputation around 1900 and today the creative industries (CI) belong to the most dynamic sectors of the local economy. The project submitted is the first study using the CI approach regarding paths of development through the entire 20th century. An interdisciplinary assessment of the development, dynamics, and potentials of CI in Vienna using methods of economics and historical sciences is intended, in order to determine the economic dimension of CI and implications for policy making and practitioners.
