Joachim Hermisson was chosen by MFPL, the University of Vienna and the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna as a candidate to reinforce the link between mathematics and biosciences.
He carries out his research work into mathematical population genetics at the University of Vienna and the Max F. Perutz Laboratories in near proximity to Arndt von Haeseler who was appointed to the WWTF chair in 2005.
Before he had been group manager at the Department for Biology of LMU Munich.
